CHOOF - DIMWITTED AMORAL EXPLOITATION - OUT TODAY!
Melbourne outlaw grind bastards CHOOF have today released one of the most relentless displays of sonic aggression this year with their debut 10” vinyl EP “Dimwitted Amoral Exploitation”. The band have become known nationwide for their “no holds barred” approach to the stage, and now they have taken to the studio with this same venom and intent. The EP was recorded and mixed by Max Dangerfield at Singing Bird Studios, Frankston and is accompanied by a brand new video by producer Hussein Khoder for the track “Mortuary Rat”. The video boasts the band whiplashing in their live element with all the blood, sweat and tears that you’d come to expect from these Melbourne maniacs. Watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhenaIrMrlo
Lyrically, this is a collection of horrid shit and CHOOF dive straight into the most twisted and messed up aspects of human existence. Sonically it’s a prime example of why Melbourne grindcore is held in such high regard worldwide. The riffage is relentless with explosive and hard-hitting beats that drive it all the way down the gutter. Breakdowns, grooves and well-crafted songs coupled with Jake Seymour’s unique vocals stylings make this a world-class slice of filthy grind.
This May CHOOF take this new EP on the road supporting LA legends of Power-Violence DESPISE YOU on their first-ever Australian tour. CHOOF take on every stage head-first with an intensely visceral display of carnage. So much so that they received the honor of being dubbed Sense Media's “Most Dangerous Band of 2022”... a category that didn't even exist until CHOOF came along!
So, if you’re ready for a bloody good night out, be sure to catch DESPISE YOU and CHOOF this May as they hit stages all along the east coast. But for now, get in quick to get your grubby mitts on a copy of their debut EP “Dimwitted Amoral Exploitation”.

Innovators of the power-violence scene and one of California’s most intimidating bands DESPISE YOU (USA) make their first trek to Australia this May. After creating some of the hardest and most engaging music in the genre, DESPISE YOU’s journey to Australia marks almost three decades of the bands existence albeit after a hiatus in the early 2000’s.
Legendary for their collaborations and split releases over the years with bands such as Suppression, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Stapled Shut, Coke Bust and others, their West-Side Horizons compilation album features the bands formidable material from the 90’s and is revered by fans and musical contemporaries alike. Beginning their journey as a live band in 2007, DESPISE YOU have been in demand across the globe and live up to their reputation as the angriest band in the world.
Joining DESPISE YOU on their maiden voyage to Australia is Melbourne’s outlaw grind bastards CHOOF. Their debut EP “Dimwitted Amoral Exploitation” is out on 27.04.23 through Dead Set Records; a visceral slab of carnage synonymous with the distinctive Melbourne grindcore sound. Catch DESPISE YOU and CHOOF as they trample the east coast this May!
“Time doesn’t seem to have tamed Despise You’s temperament one iota, and after one of the most intense hardcore shows the capital has seen in some time, it’s incredibly gratifying to report that they’re STILL the angriest band in the world.” – Terrorizer magazine

Melbourne outlaw grind act Choof have been busy making a name for themselves over the past few years as one of the most outrageous, yet entertaining and extreme bands Australia has produced in years. Now the fruits of their labour have come to a head with the release of their debut 10” vinyl EP “Dimwitted Amoral Exploitation” accompanied by the equally absurd video for the single “Yoghurt Cups”.
Never a band to shy away from, well… anything, Choof bring the chaos hard on this first taste of what the band can conjure up. Intense, noisy, and downright rude, the EP is a fast-paced grind and groove onslaught that leaves the listener aurally assaulted and similarly intrigued. A combination of grating black metal coupled with the intensity and attitude of Australia’s best metal and punk, Choof present an incredibly strong EP for their first offering in the recorded medium.
The video for the track “Yoghurt Cups” is as ridiculous as its sounds, following the adventures of a young man who just wants a “choof”. It's live on social media and Youtube now and also features the band blasting through the track at Melbourne’s infamous “Old Bar” venue in Fitzroy. Choof’s new EP is a must for any fan of the extreme music realm to check out and marks the arrival of a band hellbent on making serious noise in the scene.
Choof have a stack of shows soon to be announced with a very special tour so keep your eyes peeled for details in the near future. Until then, their debut EP “Dimwitted Amoral Exploitation” is available for pre-order now via Dead Set Records and Artist First and digitally through Bloodblast Distribution.

From the vault we have found an incredibly limited supply of the debut Pillow album "Goof Rock High" and even more limited supply of T-Shirts from the disbanded Melbourne rockers. Active in the Melbourne scene in the 90's and 00's, Pillow featured members of King Parrot, Legends of Motorsport, The Ruiner, Duneeater and The Palenecks. With a distinctive sound that could never really be pigeon holed, it would be safe to say they were an amalgamation of all of the aforementioned bands that preceded them. Pillow always remained creative in writing twisted, yet engaging songs with an emphasis on rocking over obscurity, they always bought the party to live shows across the land. Drawing comparison to bands like Clutch, Fu Manchu, Helmet and Ween, it never quite did them justice as their unabashedly Australian approach was undeniable. Secure your CD and t-shirt at the Dead Set Records store before they are gone forever: https://artistfirst.com.au/collections/dead-set-records/artistpillow
